How to  Choosing A Reasonably Priced Thigh Prosthesis

Some people think the price of thigh prosthesis is very expensive,don’t know how to choose a above-knee or below-knee prosthesis with a reasonable price.

If you want to know the price of thigh prosthesis, it is necessary to know the composition of thigh prostheses. Now the thigh prostheses are basically composed of  modular structure, the whole above-knee prosthesis is usually composed of six major components like the prosthetic socket, knee joint, sach foot, connectors, exterior accessories, other accessories. How the prosthetic assembly impacts on the price of above knee prostheses is as follows:

1,Prosthetic socket: ★ ★

There are many types of socket of thigh prosthesis. The price is related with the production process and raw material. However, the price of socket plays little effect on the price of prosthesis. because most people would like to choose a reasonable price rather than pay for high technology. The socket needs to be replaced as thechange of residual limb at any time.There are many types of socket for the first time of assembling. You’d better choose a relatively low price for the start. You can choose better socket after the condition of residual limb is stable. Knee joint is the most important factor of affecting the price of thigh prosthesis.You’d better choose affordable knee joint.The function of good knee jointis not necessarily more fancy, we need to see the quality of knee joint. High-qualityknee joint is stable with low failure rate and long service life.Maintenance of prosthesis requires other costs like time and transportation cost. A good prosthesis can greatly reduce the use costs.

Sach foot is the secondary most important factor of affecting the price. The selection of sach foot is the same as selection of knee joint.

4, Connector: ★ ★ ★

Prosthetic connector is divided into national standard connecting parts and non-national standard connecting parts according to the different manufacture origin of artificial limb. In the initial assembly, the connectors goes together with knee joint and sach foot. However, the latter maintenance cost will increase if you want to change the connector as the price of non-national standard is much higher than the price of the national standard connector.

5, external ornaments: ★

External ornaments play a minimal effect on the price of prosthesis. From the current point, patient’s request to take the initiative to change external decoration ,which isnot a lot. But some patients have certain requirements of simulation degree ofexternal decoration. And patient needs to pay extra expenditure for this special external decoration.

6, other accessories: ★ ★

Some patients may need accessories such as stump liner to meet the needs of enhancing comfort. As these accessories don’t have the specific service life, their impact on thigh prosthesis reflects in the long-term use of the cost.
